9th Annual Hunger Forum
             9th Annual Hunger Forum:

On the Edge of Hunger

April 24, 2009

Touro
Law School, Central Islip

Thank you to all those that joined us on April 24th for a day of education, networking, and advocacy.  This year’s Forum highlighted the numerous changes surrounding food-related programs and services, as well as the impact the current environment has had on hunger and food insecurity on Long Island.  The Forum’s workshops provided an opportunity to learn more about available programs and services offered to children, pregnant women, seniors and individuals with disabilities; how to connect clients to these resources; and methods for building a stronger voice to fight hunger on Long Island. At lunch, Joel Berg, Executive Director of New York City Coalition Against Hunger and author of All You Can Eat:  How Hungry is America?  discussed the need for hunger reform and to plan for a more innovative, comprehensive and effective system that can eradicate hunger - primarily through government.
