FIVE WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
More than 60 years ago, HWCLI was formed to respond to the needs of all Long Islanders, ensuring that the voices of the powerless were heard. Now, HWCLI continues to meet evolving needs by leveraging the social landscape through social justice and equity. HWCLI’s work is reflective of the needs of Long Island’s health and human service sector and seeks to achieve the most sustainable solutions.
Getting involved is quick and easy. The following are five ways that you can:
1) SIGN UP FOR ADVOCACY ALERTS, EMAILS AND E-NEWSLETTERS To keep you informed about important issues, HWCLI hosts a variety of listservs. Through HWCLI’s network, subscribers can provide important feedback to be shared with others on the list. Our monthly newsletters will keep you up to date on the latest community news, resources, trainings and advocacy issues. SIGN UP!
2) JOIN A COALITION Get involved in the work of HWCLI by joining one of our coalitions. As a member, you'll have a chance to influence the development of HWCLI initiatives and our positions on issues. JOIN NOW!
3) BECOME A MEMBER HWCLI offers its members its experience in advocacy, research, policy analysis, outreach and education, service delivery and capacity building. The advocacy efforts of HWCLI coalitions and work groups address systemic issues and barriers on local, state and federal levels. Membership in HWCLI provides a place at the table for individuals and organizations, an opportunity for your voice to be heard and for you to help build the collective voice with which the nonprofit community is heard. BECOME A MEMBER!
4) GIVE HWCLI must rely on the generosity of its friends and supporters to meet the enormous cost of providing programs and services, year-round, to thousands of Long Islanders. You can help through:
- Donations: As the demand for HWCLI's work continues to grow, the need for support also increases.
Corporate Support: Discover how your company can get involved
Planned giving: HWCLI accept bequests and/or contributions of stocks, bonds and certificates of deposit. For more information or to discuss this further, email HWCLI President/CEO Gwen O'Shea or call 516-505-4423.
5) VOLUNTEER Share your expertise, gain new skills and make an impact. We can match your skills with an area of interest or provide an ability to gain new skills and knowledge while making friends. Volunteering helps support our work and your community. VOLUNTEER!
